The Eyes of the Tiger - Scroll Saw Portrait

Aqui está o meu ultimo trabalho em scroll saw, intitulado Olhar de Tigre. Inteiramente feita à mão, esta peça tem cerca de 18 horas de trabalho, desde a criação do pattern até aos cortes na madeira, da instalação do fundo negro até à manufatura da moldura, foi tudo feito por mim. A moldura é feita de pinho escurecido com betume da Judeia e com acabamento em cera de polir.
Este magnífico retrato de tigre mede 57 cm de largura por 70 cm de altura, um tamanho perfeito para um olhar ameaçador e mesmerizante!

Here's my last scroll saw piece, entitled The Eyes of the Tiger. Every piece of it was handmade by me taking me up to 18 hours in all to complete, from the creation of the pattern to cutting the design on the wood, from installing the black backing to hand making the frame, it’s all me. The frame is made of pine wood darkened with Judea bitumen and finished with polish wax.
This magnificent tiger portrait measures 57cm wide by 70cm tall, a size fit for such a menacing, mesmerizing look!

Finished cutting. This is what it looks like when I take it off the saw. Looks fragile? That’s because it is!

Terminado o corte. Este é o aspecto quando acaba de sair da serra. Parece frágil? Isso é porque é frágil!

Finalmente, posso apresentar-vos o resultado do trabalho que evoluiu ao longo dos últimos dois meses. Um tríptico com cerca de 120 cm de largura por 78 cm de altura, em que trabalhei desde a criação do pattern até ao resultado final que podem agora observar. É o meu primeiro tríptico e estou muito feliz com o resultado... Tanto que já estou a planear o segundo!

Finally, I can present you with the result of the work that has evolved for the last couple of months. A triptych that measures around 47,2 by 30,7 inches, in which I’ve worked from the creation of the pattern to the final piece that you can now see. This is my first triptych and I’m really happy with it… So happy that I’m already planning the second!

Back to Lathe... - De volta ao Torno...

Para fazer uma pausa num projecto grande que tenho em marcha fiz esta caneta, modelo Wall Street II, em madeira de Azinho. Há já algum tempo que não trabalhava com o torno de madeira, uma ferramenta formidável que tenho pena de não ter mais tempo para usar... Outras prioridades...

Taking a break from the "big" project I'm currently working on I made this pen, Wall Street II model, in Holm-oak wood. It's been a while since I did some wood turning in my lathe, which is a great tool that I regret not having more time to use... Other priorities.... 

My first acrylic Pen - A minha primeira Caneta em acrilico

Ontem fiz uma caneta em madeira de azinho, essa caneta serviu de empurrão para realizar uma caneta em acrílico pela primeira vez. Tinha lido sobre a técnica e resolvi tentar!
Podem ver o resultado nas fotos. Para uma primeira caneta em acrílico, penso que correu muito bem!

Yesterday I made a pen of Holm-oak, this pen pushed me to make an acrylic pen for the first time. I had read about this technique and decided to give it a try!
You can see the end result in the pictures. For a first try, I think it is pretty awesome!

Olive wood Love spoons - Love spons em madeira de oliveira

Here's two of my handcarved Love Spoons, design by me.These particular spoons were carved in Olive tree wood and finished with polishing wax. It measures 25 cm, or 10 inches.
I lovingly handcarved these spoons following the Welsh tradition.

Duas das minhas Love Spoons esculpidas à mão, desenhadas por mim. Estes trabalhos foram realizados em madeira de Oliveira e com acabamento em cera de polir. Tamanho 25 cm.
Estas colheres foram esculpidas seguindo a tradição celta.

Symbols in the spoon,
Heart - Demonstrate love and desire to win the heart of the girl for whom the spoon is intended.
Knot - Demonstrate a wish to be joined together, never-ending knot means a love that lasts forever.

Simbolos na colher,

Coração - Demonstra amor e desejo de ganhar o coração da rapariga a quem a colher é destinada.

Nó - Demonstra o desejo de ficar junto com a mulher amada, o nó sem fim quer dizer o amor  que dura para sempre.

Key To My Heart

Symbols in the spoon,

Keyhole - Indicates that the girl has won the key to the boy's heart.

Knot - Demonstrate a wish to be joined together, never-ending knot means a love that lasts forever.

No seguimento das minhas ultimas caixas em serra de fita, realizei mais este trabalho. A terceira de um set de três, trabalho realizado em madeira de Castanho, Mogno e Pinho, utilizando a combinação das tecnicas de serra de fita e escultura, esta peça tem as dimensões de 30X20X10 cm e acabamento em cera de polir. Following up my last two bandsaw boxes I made this piece. The third in a set of set of three, a piece build in Hazel, Mahogany and Pine wood, using a combination of band saw and carving techniques. It measures 12X8X4 inches and it was finished with polishing wax. Available in Etsy

No seguimento da minha ultima caixa em serra de fita, realizei mais este trabalho. A segunda de um set de três, trabalho realizado em madeira de Amieiro e Pinho, utilizando a combinação das tecnicas de serra de fita e escultura, esta peça tem as dimensões de 29X13X8 cm e acabamento em cera de polir.

Following up my last band saw box I made this piece. The second in a set of set of three, a piece build in Alder and Pine wood, using a combination of band saw and carving techniques. It measures 11,4x5,1x3,1 inches and it was finished with polishing wax.
